NEWTON HEATH RAGGED SCHOOL. On Saturday afternoon the memorial stone of the Newton Heath New Ragged School was laid Mr. Arthur E. Ward, on behalf of Miss Taylor (late of Newton Heath), who has generously offered to pay for the cost of the building. The new school being erected on the same site as the old school in Queen Street, the land for which was given the late Elijah Dixon in 1871. The building will be a plain structure, faced with pressed bricks, and estimated cost £1.400. The architect is Mr. J. A. Earnshaw, of Manchester. The memorial stone bears the following inscription: "This school was erected to the memory of John Taylor. Esq., J.P., of Brookdale, by his daughter, A.D. 1901."
