HOLY TRINITY, MANCHESTER - This church, which we noticed in the second volume of our New Series, was built some years since by Messrs Scott and Moffatt. It has, unfortunately, a cruciform plan, with a most inadequately-sized chancel, or rather a mere sanctuary, in the form of a five-sided apse. We are very glad to hear of a proposed improvement of the ritual arrangements, under the care of Mr. R. J. Withers. The lantern (so to call it) is to be made the chancel, leaving the present apse as the sanctuary: and a low screen on its three sides will mark it sufficiently as a chorus cantorum. This is the only right way of altering such a church. [Ecclesiologist December 1850 page 265]
