EAST CROMPTON CHURCH – The chief portion of the west front of this church has been taken down and rebuilt, with enlarged west window of three lights with vesica above, from designs by H Cockbain, architect of Middleton. The window has been filed with stained glass by Messrs Burlison and Grylls of London, representing incidents in the life of Christ. The window is intended as a memorial to the late Dr James Leach, and is the gift of his widow and surviving daughter. [Manchester Guardian 24 August 1885 page 7]
