The Old Rectory is reputedly built of materials reclaimed from the former governor’s house at Ilchester Gaol and is constructed of Lias stone elevations with Ham stone detailing under a tiled roof. On top of the roof is the former bell tower from Ilchester Gaol (closed 1843).
