REGENT HOUSE. A magnificent Portland Stone Building is being erected in Cannon Street, Manchester, designed by Mr Charles Swain, architect, 12 Exchange Street, Manchester, the building contract having been placed with Messrs J Gerrard and Sons Limited, Swinton, and will be completed by the end of the year. Shops Showrooms and Offices to be Let. [Manchester Guardian 28 June 1924 page 3] In 1927(?) Charles Swain and others again promoted a scheme for the erection of Regent House, Cannon Street. In December 1934 he claimed that it had just been placed upon a paying basis.

Messrs. Ollier and others have secured a site in Cannon Street for the erection of a modern office block of fireproof construction. Plans by Mr. C. Swain, architect and surveyor, 12 Exchange Street, Manchester. Contract placed with Messrs. J. Gerrard & Sons, Ltd., builders, Swinton. [The Architect 26 December 1924 page 396]
