MANCHESTER CATHEDRAL: NEW REREDOS – We understand that the present stone reredos behind the altar table in the choir of Manchester Cathedral is to be removed and a new one erected in its stead. The new reredos, which has been designed by Mr Basil Champneys, the Cathedral architect, will be an elaborate carved open work of cedar wood, and will be considerably higher than the present one. The work is being executed by a Litchfield firm. [Manchester Guardian 23 August 1893 page 7]
