CAMP FOR SALFORD CHILDREN. A seaside holiday camp for Salford sick and poor children is now assured. Yesterday the committee of which Alderman S Delves is chairman ratified the purchase of about six acres of land at Meliden, near Pretatyn, and the work of equipping it will be proceeded with immediately in the hope that the camp may be opened during the summer. The committee gratefully accepted the services of Mr Charles Swain as honorary architect. [Manchester Guardian 19 May 1927 page 13]

SALFORD POOR CHILDREN; HOLIDAY CAMP IN NORTH WALES. Good progress is being made with the arrangements for establishing a camp at Meliden, near Pretatyn, for the benefit of Salford poor children. The scheme was started by Alderman and Mrs Delves during their mayoralty two years ago, and has been well supported by all classes of citizens. The site has now been conveyed to the trustees and the offer of Mr Charles Swain, architect, to prepare a layout has been gratefully accepted. It is proposed to provide accommodation for at least 100 children, and it is hoped to give that number a holiday each week during the summer months. Every effort will be made to have the camp ready by Whitsuntide next year. Later the further project of erecting a convalescent home for the cases of recommended children from the city will be considered. [Manchester Guardian 30 November 1927 page A13]
