In addition to the church of the Saviour, the founder, Thomas Greenhalgh, of Thorneydikes, Sharples, Bolton gave a parsonage house and large schools at a further cost of about £10,000.

The schools are one storey in height, and consist of three rooms, each 50 feet long by 35ft. wide, with classrooms, entrance porches and other appurtenances. There is also a lecture room, which has hitherto been used as a temporary church, the licence respecting which is now revoked. Over the classroom is a parishioners' room, fitted also to serve as a school library. Cellars are provided for heating apparatus, and there is a kitchen. These schools, which will accommodate 660 children, are in the Gothic style of architecture from designs Messrs Bradshaw and Gass, Bolton. [Manchester Courier 25 September 1885 page 6]
