Schools of the Church of the Sacred Heart (RC) Gorton
ROMAN CATHOLIC SCHOOLS, GORTON, NEAR MANCHESTER - The memorial-stone has just been laid of the new schools of the Church of the Sacred Heart at Gorton. The schools, of which Messrs. Longworth and Son, Manchester, are the architects, will cost £1,200. [Builder 10 October 1903 page 368]
The memorial inscription: “In the first year of the Pontificate of His Holiness Pope Pius X; the second year of the reign of His Majesty King Edward VII; and the first year of the Episcopate of His Lordship Bishop Louis Charles Casartelli, this memorial stone was laid in pious memory of the Right Reverend Dr John Bilsbarrow (third Bishop of the Diocese of Salford) by Richard Holden, 26 September 1902.
