On Monday afternoon, May 17tb, the foundation stone of a new church, intended for the use of the Welsh congregation now worshipping in Arkwright-street was laid by Mr Richard Davies, M.P. for Anglesey in the presence of a large number of people. …..  The ground plan comprises a nave 60 feet long and 33 feet wide; two transepts 16 feet by 7 feet 6 inches, organ chamber 13 feet by 6 feet; vestibules and entrances 8 feet wide with end gallery over the same, projecting 9 feet into the body of the church. Accommodate will be provided for 450 persons. There is a schoolroom and classroom connected with the church. The architect is Mr Richard Owens, Breck Road, but the contract for the building, which is expected to amount to £,3000, exclusive of the land has not yet been let.[Cambrian News 21 May 1875 page 5]

Oa Monday also, Mr Richard Davies, M.P., laid the foundation-stone of a new chapel for the overgrowth of the Arkwright-street congregation of Welsh Presbyterians. The new edifice is being erected on the north-west corner of the plot of ground between Shaw-street and Eastbourne-street. The new chapel will be for English services.
