“Shelwith” and “Paxford” 304-306 Lower Broughton Road

A pair of semi-detached houses built about 1890 on the east side of Lower Broughton Road, and first occupied by Fletcher Armstrong, builder, and Walter R Sharp, architect. It is probable that the two men purchased the site and designed and built these houses for their own occupation. They also include mock half-timbering in the gables a favourite Sharp device. Note that Armstrong Fletcher gave his address as Lower Broughton and Walter Sharp as Higher Broughton.
