Mr Truefitt is another individual who has studied and success fully applied iron to architectural purposes. In the present exhibition there are several specimens of this. In connection with houses, we may point to (163) and (172). Also, in a shop front at Worcester (166), an iron table (166); and in a new room in a Manchester Bank (171). There is evidence of care and taste in all these. The "Additions to Barlow HalL Manchester" (164), by the same author, are in keeping with the original; and the "View of Rectory lately erected at Thorne Coffin" (170), is decidedly characteristic and quaint. But Mr. Truefitt's most important drawing is (297) " A Font," designed for the French Exhibition. The metal work interlacing below the bowl is most artistically treated; but not so the figures of children at the feet of an angel who is standing on one edge of the font, and pointing downwards into it. The propriety of this latter delineation admits of more questions than one. [Civil Engineer and Architects Journal 1855 Volume 18 page 5]
