NEW SCHOOLS IN ST CHRYSOSTOM'S PARISH - On Saturday afternoon Mrs Anson, the wife of Archdeacon Anson, laid the corner stone of a new school building to be erected in Clarendon Road, Chorlton-on-Medlock in connection with St. Chrysostom's Church. When completed, the schools will provide accommodation for 700 children. The girls' and infants’ departments will occupy the ground floor, and the boys' department the first floor. At present, owing to the want of the necessary funds, only the former will be gone on with, at a cost of about £2,500,, and the remainder of the work will be taken up when circumstances permit. The buildings are to be erected almost entirely of brick, relieved by terra-cotta strings and panels, the roof being covered with tiles. The builder is Mr William Southern, of Salford; and the architect, Mr. Henry Lord, of John Dalton-street, Manchester.  [Manchester Times Saturday 21 June 1879 page 6]
