St Marks Church Infant Schools, Holland Street, Miles Platting
The extension of existing schools to form a new infants' department
The memorial stones of the extensions to St Mark’s Church Schools, Holland Street, Miles Platting are shortly to be laid. The architects are Messrs Potts Son and Pickup of Manchester. The new infants’ school will be a one story building and will consist of a central hall, 39 feet by 31 feet and four classrooms opening out of it. Externally the building will be ornamented by red pressed bricks with terra-cotta dressings and internally the walls will be brightened by glazed brock dados. St. Mark’s new Infant school, Holland‑street, Manchester, designed by Messrs Potts, Son, and Henning. architects, and erected by Messrs Bullivant, was opened last week. It consists of a central hall, with classrooms on either side, teachers' room, ample cloakrooms, with lavatories, etc. The playground is asphalted, and is provided with a covered shed for assembling purposes. The school will accommodate 312 scholars. The cost has been ,2 400. [Building News 17 March 1899 Page 369].
