St Mary's Church, Manchester Road, Partington
The Church was built in 1883 and completed in 1884 to the designs of George Truefitt. The building is faced externally in dark red rock faced sandstone with a plain clay tiled roof. The plan form is simple with a rectilinear nave and chancel with a small attached porch and tower above the original vestry
It is intended to provide a new church for the village of Partington, near Altrincham. The structure will be built from the drawings Mr. George Truefitt, architect, of Warrington, and will cost £2,465, Messrs. Southern and Son being tho contractors for the work. The Bishop of Chester will to-day consecrate the new church of St. Mary, at Partington, near Ashton-upon-Mersey, Cheshire. The structure, which will be the first church consecrated his lordship since his appointment to the bishopric, has been erected from the design of Mr George Truefitt, architect, of Warrington, the contractors being Messrs. Southern and Sons, builders, Salford. It understood that the cost of erection has been defrayed by the Rev. Canon Heron, M.A., rural dean of Bowdon. [Manchester Courier 29 May 1884 page 8]
