Formally opened on 21 May 1869. Approximately 33 acres of which 20 acres set aside for burials and 13 acres for “walks.” Three chapels for the Church of England, Dissenters and Roman Catholics Registrar=s house adjacent to the main entrance. The whole site surrounded by boundary wall of parpoints.
