TENDERS WANTED for MATERIALS of School and 17 houses, 24 James-street, 1-5 Longworth’s Court and 18-38 Factory-lane, to be taken down and the site cleared within four weeks. F Oakley, architect, Guardian Chambers Cross Street, Manchester.

Notes - Slater’s  1895 Directory indicates St Philips Church Schools on Factory Lane. The advertisement for demolition and site clearance appearing some two years later. It would appear that the new school was erected on the enlarged site with the main entrance on James Street almost opposite Islington Mill. Demolition presumably occurred to allow the building of the Stella Marris building in the 1960's.
