The medieval church comprised until rebuilding a chancel, a nave with a south porch in the centre of its southern wall, and a west tower. A Mr. Francis tendered for rebuilding the tower in 1861 and in 1862-3 the nave and porch were demolished and the north aisle, vestry, and tower turret were built to the designs of Paull and Robinson of Cardiff. A curate’s house was built in 1860-1 to the design of H. J. Paull of Cardiff on a site given by the Revd. J. G. D. Thring.
