Star Mill, (Cobden Mill), Square Street, Ramsbottom
A mid to Late 19th century cotton mill at the corner of Kay Brow and Square Street originally named Cobden Mill as shown by a carved name stone at this corner. This name appears on OS maps into the twentieth century. About 1891 the Star Mill Company took occupation and re-named it “Star Mill.” By 1892 the Ramsbottom Industrial & Provident Society Limited had acquired an interest in the property. In 1910 Star Mill Co Ltd occupiers and Ramsbottom Co-op Society owners of Weaving Shed on Square Street [Valuation List PUB 8/164 TLE Bury Archives]. By the outbreak of World War II the name had reverted to Cobden Mill. Converted to residential in 2025.

Tenders to be sent to the Office of the Ramsbottom Industrial and Provident Society, Ltd. (under cover) not later than 6-30 p.m. of Friday, the 20th inst.
