In 1843 the heavily mortgaged Iscoyd Park estate was bought by Philip Lake Godsal from Cheltenham. He altered and extended the house in 1844-45 (architect Thomas Jones of Chester). In 1851 John Gregan of Manchester designed the terrace around the house.
