This house has been erected on high land with a southerly aspect. The walls are of Ravenhead “Rustic” bricks, with wide white mortar joints, hung in some portions with hand-made tiles, with which the roof is also covered. The interior is very simply furnished, there being no panelling or elaborate fitments, though old oak chimney-pieces have been used in some of the rooms with good effect. The house was built at a low cost, the price per cubic foot working out at only 5d., including drainage, but excluding the laying out of the garden. Mr Frank B Dunkerley, FRIBA, of Manchester, was the architect. The contractors were Messrs. M. Stone and Sons, of Altrincham. Leaded lights and metal casements were supplied by Messrs Humphries Jackson and Ambler Limited, and sanitary fittings by Messrs Samuel Gratrix, junior and Brother.
