New build

Built in 1894 as a vicarage for St James’s parish church, and designed by Frank Bindloss of Gatley, the house is now a children’s nursery. The plaque to the left of the door reads: “1894. Nisi Dominus aedificaverit domum: in vanum laboraverunt qui aedificant eam” which can be translated as “Unless the Lord shall have built the house, they who build it will have laboured in vain”. [Richard Fletcher]
