Opened 2 June 1913, with seating for 1100 on tip-up seats.  Re-named the Palladium in 1918, it was Stockport’s largest and most lavish cinema of the silent era. The cinema closed in 1956 and after considerable reconstruction opened in the following year as a department store. The side elevation on Hatton Street survives from the cinema and has decorative pilasters. The rear wall, on Bridgefield Street, is rendered but includes some exposed brickwork.
