The Provident Society’s Hall Queen Street Manchester
THE PROVIDENT SOCIETY’S HALL - New offices, built for the Manchester and Salford District Provident Society, Queen-street, Albert-square, have been opened for business. The architect is Mr Heelis, Cross-street, and the builder Mr William Southern, Salford. In the erection of these offices no expense has been spared to make them of the most substantial and commercial description. The building is a plain one, of brick and stone. As an evidence of the favour and appreciation in which this society is held, it may be mentioned that the entire cost of the erection - upwards of £2,500 - was subscribed in the course of a few days by a number of ladies and gentlemen. The institution was established in the year 1833 and has done much good and serviceable work. [The Manchester City News Saturday 20 January 1872. Page 3]
