DOB LANE UNITARIAN SCHOOLS - On Saturday afternoon Mr C E Schwann MP laid the foundation stone of a school which is to be erected on a site adjoining the Unitarian Church in Dob Lane, Failsworth.  ..... The plans which are the work of Mr Tom Cook, Victoria Buildings, Manchester, show a large room, 70 feet by 33 feet; an infants' room, 50 feet by 20 feet; and two classrooms, 19 feet by 14 feet each. The style of architecture adopted for the elevation of the new building is late Tudor.[Manchester Guardian 5 April 1887 page 7]

Estimated cost £1,800. School to replace the old school built c1847.
