BLACKPOOL METHODISTS. OPENING CEREMONY OF NEW CHURCH NEWTON DRIVE - This afternoon the new United Methodist Church in Newton Drive was opened by the Mayor. Councillor Fielding, J P A few years ago a mission school was built, and it has been followed by the erection of the new church, which occupies a commanding position on the hill. The church is built of brick, with terra cotta dressings, and a spire at the south-west corner. The main entrance is at the west end. There is seating for 445, and a gallery. There are vestries for the choir and minister. All the woodwork is of pitch-pine. Mr. J. B. Thornley, Blackpool and Darwen, is the architect. Messrs Dryland and Preston were the general contractors.
