Restorations, Additions

We publish plans and views of the interesting restoration of and additions to this fine old hall which have been going on during the last three or four years, under the direction of Messrs. Demaine & Brierley. In our Christmas number, December 14th last, we illustrated the north or entrance front and the long gallery (called the picture gallery on our plan). It will be gathered from our illustrations how admirably the architects have entered into the spirit of the old work, and whilst they have retained this character it has been at no sacrifice of the requirements of a modern mansion. The work also has been most excellently carried out. [British Architect 1 February 1895 page 75]
