The commemorative stones of the Wesleyan new chapels were laid at Trinity Road, Bootle, on Tuesday, August 24th; and at Claughton Road, Birkenhead, on Monday, August 30th. …. The Birkenhead chapel had four memorial stones, those laid by Mr. Ellis Davies, Liscard; Mr. Richard Jones, Llanrhaiadr (in memory of the late Rev. Robert T. Owen, first minister of the chapel at Wesley Street); Mr. William Williams, Llanidloes and Mr. John Davies, Conway Street, Birkenhead. The first gave £15 on the stone after it has been laid; the second, £10; the third, £100; and the fourth, £5, added to £10, a gift. made previously. The chapel has seating for 500. Richard Owen, Breck Road, is the designer; and Messrs. Nicholson and Ayre are the builders. [Baner ac Amserau Cymru 8th September 1875 page 7]
