On Saturday afternoon the comer‑stone of a new Wesleyan day and Sunday‑school was laid at Kersley. The plans have been prepared by Mr Thomas Ormrod, architect, of Town Hall‑square, Bolton, and the work is being carried out under his direction by Mr. Jno. Taylor, joiner and builder, Farnworth. The cost of the building, according to present contract, will be about  £970, but the heating, lighting, and furnishing, also boundary walls, outbuildings, drainage, etc., will, it is estimated, bring the total expenditure to upwards of £1,300 [Building News 30 May 1879 page 621]
