NEW CHAPEL AT MILES PLATTING - The foundation stone of a Methodist New Connexion Chapel was laid at Miles Platting on Saturday afternoon. The building is to be in the classic style and faced externally with white ends of common bricks, ornamented with bands of blue and red brick. In front there is to be an open porch, over which will be placed a large two-light window. There will also be a range of couplet windows on each side. The inside of the chapel is to be finished with an open roof, and seats are to be erected to accommodate 300 persons. The building is to be 50 feet long and 33 feet wide, inside measurement, and is to cost £600, which has been raised by subscription. The plans are by Messrs Shaw and Webster, architects, Marsden Street. It is intended that a schoolroom shall be ultimately erected on ground adjoining the chapel. METHODIST NEW CONNEXION NEW CHAPEL AT MILES PLATTING - The foundation-stone of a new chapel in connection with this body was laid on Saturday, in Miles Platting, by Mr. Councillor Jenkinson, of Salford. The New Connexion was established in 1797, since which time it has numbered at home and abroad 32,000 members; and the population in Miles Platting has become so dense that it was found necessary by the body to build a new chapel, to afford accommodation for the followers of the sect in that district. The building is to be internally 50 feet by 33 feet and 24 feet in height and will seat about 300 persons. The cost is estimated at £600; and the architects are Messrs. Shaw and Webster, Marsden Street, Manchester. [Manchester Courier - Saturday 27 May 1865 page 9
