NEW WESLEYAN SCHOOL CHAPEL, BROADHEATH, ALTRINCHAM - The memorial stones of the new school chapel at Broadheath were laid recently. The school, it is estimated, will accommodate between five and six hundred scholars. The large room will seat about 350 persons. There will be three class rooms and an infants' room. Behind the platform vestries will be placed a gallery and three classrooms are arranged for the front of the building, and these will be flanked on each side by the staircase and principal entrance. Rooms for storage, the heating chamber, etc, will be provided in the basement of the building. Externally the front and side elevations will be faced with red stock bricks with terra cotta mouldings, etc. It is proposed to cover the roofs with red Ruabon tiles and the ventilating turret with oak shingling. The floors inside will be of pitch-pine, as will also be the screens, gallery front, and roof timbers. The architect is Mr A. W. Smith, of Manchester, and the principal contractor, Mr J. E. Dean, of Sale.
