WITHINGTON CEMETERY CHAPEL : SELECTED DESIGN. - THE design shown for the Withington Cemetery Chapel was selected by the late Mr R. Knill Freeman, FRIBA, of Bolton, and awarded the first premium in the recent competition restricted to Manchester architects. The chapel is intended for the conduct of burial services of the Church of England, Roman Catholic, and Non‑ conformist bodies, with seating accommodation for 150 persons. The design includes a lodge, registrar's office, and plans showing the draining and laying‑out of the site. The walls to be in coursed Yorkshire facings and approved stone dressings, the roofs to be slated with green Westmoreland slates. The contemplated cost of the various items mentioned, including boundary walls, gives a total of £1,000. The selected architect is Mr. Ernest Woodhouse, of 88, Mosley‑street, Manchester.

Last week we illustrated the first premiated design for the Chapel at Withington Cemetery. The view with plan printed today shows the scheme awarded the second place, with the tower and spire set over the porch. The author of the design is Mr Ernest Woodhouse, Mosley Street, Manchester.
