WITHNELL FOLD, NEAR CHORLEY - Withnell is one of the pleasant residential districts of Lancashire, within easy distance of the great manufacturing' centres. Mr. Herbert T. Parke has just completed his residence, illustrated today, on the site of his old house. Messrs. Bradshaw and Gass, F/FRIBA, of Bolton, were the architects. The arrangements of plans were determined by the position of the old building. Internally the rooms are of much interest, with special architectural treatment of each, giving them individuality but not sacrificing comfort. Externally the house is of red Ruabon brick, with Yorkshire stone dressings and dull red tiled roof. Messrs William Townson and Sons Limited, of Bolton, were the general contractors, and executed all the carpenter and joiners' work, including the oak work and special fittings; they had sub-contractors for the various trades, and the work has been exceptionally well done throughout.
