 The son of Theophilus David Anderson BA, a Wesleyan Minister and his wife Susan, Herbert Cooper Anderson was born at Mumbles Glamorganshire in 1881. Little is known of Herbert Cooper’s training and architectural career. He is listed as an RIBA Probationer 1898, Student 1903, Associate November 1909. [RIBA Journal 6 November 1909 page 32] and by 1911 he had commenced practice in Heywood. Herbert Cooper Anderson (Egerton Hall) was ordained by the Bishop of Manchester on 18 December 1932 at Manchester Cathedral. [Manchester Guardian 19 December 1932 page 2]. He retired to Rhos-on-Sea where he died in 1961.

 In 1910 he had married Mary Jane Minnie Kettle (-1962) at Littleborough Methodist Church, Victoria Street Rochdale. They had one known child, a daughter, Mary who married Kenneth Ross on 28 June 1947 at Bishopstoke. [Manchester Guardian 14 September 1946 page 3 – engagement.
