CHURCH EXTENSION AT LLANDUDNO. PLANS FOR NEW CHURCH ADOPTED. The Church Extension movement inaugurated in connection with the Parish of Llandudno has been taken up so heartily that the committee have been able to adopt plans for the erection of a new Church on the West Shore on the site set apart for that purpose by the Ecclesiastical Commissioners. This decision was arrived at on Thursday, December 22nd, at a very enthusiastic meeting of the committee, held at the Church House. Premiums had been offered for the best plans for the new church and seven architects, sent in designs. The meeting was convened primarily to consider the report of the assessor upon those designs, the assessor being Mr W. D. Caroe, chief architect of the Ecclesiastical Commissioners. The designs of Mr R,. T. Beckett, architect, Chester, were placed first with very high commendations, and those of Mr Herbert North, F.R.I.B.A., Llanfairfechan, second. The designs of Mr Beckett were adopted and the second premium of £ 10 awarded to Mr North. An encouraging financial report was presented, and it was decided to hold a bazaar to raise the balance in the Town Hail in September next. The plans will be exhibited at the annual parochial tea in the Town Hall on January 11th. [Llandudno Advertiser 31 December 1910 page 7]

CHURCH OF ST. SAVIOUR, LLANDUDNO - The first portion of this church is now in course of erection on the sands that the Walrus and the Carpenter wept over, being here that Lewis Carroll wandered about telling stories to his little friend Alice Liddell. (He is said to have written “Alice in Wonderland” at Dean Liddell’s house, close by).  The church is faced inside and out with Runcorn stone. The floor will be laid with wood blocks and the roof covered with Ffestiniog slates. Mr. Peter Edwards, of Dudleston, near Chester, is the builder, and Mr. R. T. Beckett, of Chester, the architect.
