The church was built by S. J Whitehead of Lowermoor, Oldham. Most of the exterior stone came from ‘Mr. Craven’s Quarries at the Craven Clough and Thuston Clough’ while the ‘dressed Ashlar’ needed for the sills, tracery; head mullions, etc was supplied from Messrs. England Quarry at Crimble near Slaithwaite. On the 18 July 1889 the building was ready and ‘Sentence of Consecration’ was passed.

In  2006-2007 the church was converted  to create a state of the art conference and training venue named “Talking Point”opened 14 January 2008
