A scheme by Truefitt for the proposed rebuilding of St Thomas’s Church was exhibited at the Architectural Association but does not appear to have progressed. In 1854 the church was rebuilt to designs by S W Dawkes.
“Mr Truefitt’s scheme for the rebuilding of the Church of St Thomas, Newport Isle of Wight on the old foundations is perhaps one of the best in the exhibition. There is an elegance of proportion which one sees nowhere else in the same style of architecture.”
