Upon ground immediately adjoining the church, a Clergy House has just been commenced, and is now about the ground level, under the same superintendence, and in the hands of the same contractor, (Dove Brothers) the approximate outlay being £6,000. The style is Mediaeval, of the plainest character. It will measure 60 feet by 41 feet on the plan, and the height from footings to ridge will be 73 feet. It is six floors high. The centre and west wing—one front having a bay window reaching to the two-pair floor—are occupied by the vicarage, the east wing being devoted to the accommodation of three curates, each having his own sitting and bedroom; the ground floor being  occupied by the dining and common room, and the remaining space by the servants' offices. Externally the facing is of picked stocks, the copings, hood moulds, strings and parapets, being of Park Spring stone and the remaining dressings of Bath; the slating is of Bangor slates with a red tile ridge from Cooper of Maidenhead. Mr. Brown is the foreman, and Mr. J Laidler, the clerk of the works. [The Architect 11 March 1871 page 132]
