Congregational Chapel, Tideswell, Derbyshire
TIDESWELL. THE PROPOSED NEW CONGREGATIONAL CHURCH - The first sod on the new Congregational Church for Tideswell was cut on Saturday afternoon by Mr. Jackson, one of the trustees of the old place of worship. The new building is expected to seat about 350 persons. Messrs Maxwell and Tuke of Manchester are the architects. The estimated cost is £700. CONGREGATIONALISM AT TIDESWELL - Yesterday afternoon Mr Jesse Howarth, of Manchester, laid the foundation stone of a new chapel about to be erected on an eligible site close to the present chapel at Tideswell, which will in future be uses exclusively for educational purposes. Messrs Maxwell and Tuke, architects, Manchester, have prepared plans for a semi-Gothic building, to seat 350 persons, at a cost of £800. [Manchester Guardian 12 April 1887 page 6]
