Situated between Rushton Street and Bridge Street, its narrow end elevation containing the principal entrance faced Corporation Street. A further entrance on Ruston Street was close to the eastern entrance of the Market Hall.

BOLTON FISH MARKET - A new fish-market is about to be erected in the immediate vicinity of Bolton market. The basement and sub-basement of the new edifice will be divided into Ice cellars, cellars for cleaning and storing fish, and all the requisite conveniences, and will also have two shops on the side which faces Bridge-street. The ground-floor will be devoted entirely to the purposes of the fish-market: it will measure 113 feet by 31 feet inside, and be divided with light ornamental iron screens into the requisite number of stalls, having a side entrance in Rushton-street, and the principal one in Corporation- street. The sides of the building will be arcaded both internally and externally, the piers and dressings being of stone, and the intermediate spaces of red brick, with the exception of the basement, which will be built entirely of rock- faced stone. The market will be lighted principally from, and ventilated by, the lantern, which extends from end to end of the roof. The roof itself will be framed with wrought-iron elliptical principals, springing from carved and moulded stone consoles, connected with longitudinal beams: over those boarding will be fixed to carry the slates. Mr. J. W. Best, of Bolton, is the architect. The outlay will be between £4,000 and £5,000. [Builder 26 March 1864 page 231]

LAYING THE CORNER STONE OF THE NEW FISH MARKET - The ceremony of laying the corner stone of the New Fish Market now in course of erection immediately behind the Market Hall, was performed in the presence of a large concourse of people on Tuesday afternoon. The building is being erected in the Italian style of architecture, and will harmonise in its principal features with our noble Market Hall. The architect is Mr. J. W. Best, and the contractor Mr. D. Flitcroft, both of Bolton. It is estimated that the cost will be about £5,000.  The erection was commenced in March last, and the market was originally intended to be opened next October, but contractor having had many difficulties to encounter, chief of which has been the want of stone, it was desirable to extend the time, and it is therefore expected that the building will not be completed until towards the end of the year. The work is already much advanced. …  extensive report on proceedings, speeches etc. [Bolton Chronicle 13 August 1864 page 3].

Demolished 1932-1933 to allow widening of Bridge Street.
