FOUNDATION STONE OF A NEW CHAPEL LAID BY MRS MORGAN - The foundation stone of a new English Calvinistic Methodist Chapel, at Rhos, was on Monday afternoon last laid by Mrs Geo. Osborne Morgan, amidst a large concourse of spectators. ….  The new edifice will be situated on the north side of the road leading from Rhos to Ruabon, on a piece of freehold land measuring 40 yards by 20 yards. The plan of the chapel is an oblong or parallelogram, the inside measurement being 47 feet by 30 feet. The walls are to be built of Cefn stone, and the sides and the back will be random rubble work, smoothly pointed; and the front wall is to be square random scutched work. The side elevations are divided into five bays, and the principal entrance is through a central doorway, above which there will be a large window with triple lights. The chief gable will have a moulded coping. The pews will be made of pitch pine, worked clean and varnished, and the pulpit and communion are to be of the same material, elaborately wrought. The ceiling will be a “waggon head" shape, finished in plaster, and divided into panels by ribs and mullions. Seats are provided for 250, and the whole building will be enclosed by a boundary wall, and in front there are to be cast iron railings and a gate. The chapel, exclusive of the land, will cost £603; the builder is Mr R. Williams, Rock Ferry, and the architect Mr R. Owen, Breck-road, Liverpool. [Wrexham Advertiser 28 October 1871 page 8]

THE NEW CHAPEL - The English Chapel (Calvinistic) is now being roofed, and presents a neat appearance. It is such a well-built edifice as bespeaks great credit to the architect (Mr. R. Owen, 2, Breck-road, Liverpool) as well as the builder, Mr. Williams, of Rock Ferry. [Llangollen Advertiser 16 February 1872 page 2 ]
