Lord Mulgrave, brother of 3rd Countess and vicar of St Marks 1872-90 had been a well-known supporter of the temperance Movement and while at Worsley he had established at his own expense a Coffee Palace and Restaurant. The Lady Ellesmere Coffee Tavern, designed by John Douglas was situated in part of the Old Mill. Converted to Bridgewater Estate Offices in 1921.
