Lancashire and Yorkshire Branch Bank, 231 Bury New Road, Whitefield
LANCASHIRE AND YORKSHIRE BRANCH BANK, WHITEFIELD. - Whitefield is a small town about six miles north of Manchester, forming a suburb thereto. It is pleasantly situated, and the building forming our illustration occupies a prominent position immediately opposite to the railway station. The building consists of banking-chamber, bank- parlour, safe, and other accommodation, and has a residence for bank manager attached. This is not, however, intended as the residence of the manager of this bank, but of the manager who has charge of an important branch of Bury, of which this forms a sub-branch. The building is built of Ruabon bricks 2.5 inches thick and Ruabon terracotta. The works have been carried out by Mr. Chas. Brierley, of Bury, and the architects are Messrs. Maxwell and Tuke, of 29, Princess- street, Manchester. [Building News 6 March 1891 page 629]
