LANCASHIRE AND YORKSHIRE BRANCH BANK, HASLINGDEN - Our illustration this week shows a branch of the Lancashire and Yorkshire Bank, Manchester, built at Haslingden, an old market town 18 miles north of Manchester, reputed to be one of the highest market-towns in England. The site is an important corner of one of the principal streets in the town. The building consists of a large banking-chamber, bank-parlour, safe, and offices, together with a residence for the manager of the bank. The building is built of Yorkshire parpoints with freestone dressings. The contractor is Mr. Thomas Collinge, of Haslingden; and the works have been designed and carried out by Messrs. Maxwell and Tuke, architects, 29, Princess-street, Manchester. [Building News 6 March 1891 page 629].
