Memorial to Sir Robert Peel, Market Place Bury (Competition)

Entries to the competition were described in the Guardian, including that submitted by George Truefitt :

Mr Truefitt, architect, London, has a design comprising a figure of Sir Robert, surrounded by six pillars, which are surmounted by an ornamental cupola. The pedestal is surrounded by emblematic figures representing industry and the fine arts [Manchester Guardian 12 February 1851 page 7]
