 LAYING THE FOUNDATION STONE OF A NEW JERUSALEM CHAPEL – On Wednesday last, the foundation stone of a New Jerusalem Chapel, to be erected on a plot of land in Higher Bridge Street, Little Bolton was laid by the Rev David Haworth of Salford.  … The building will be a plain, neat structure, 50 feet by 34 feet, and will accommodate 300 persons, or 500 by adding side galleries. The contractors are: Mr John Isherwood, stone mason; Messrs Grey and Stirrup, brick-setters and slaters; Mr Robert Haslam, carpenter and joiner; Mr Hugh Makinson, plumber and glazier; and Mr John Platt, plasterer and painter. The building is intended to be a neat but plain structure, of a mixed order of architecture, and is to contain at present 300 sittings on the ground floor, with a small gallery for the choir. It is to be 52 by 37 feet, and 22 feet from floor to ceiling. When galleries shall be added, it will seat 500 persons. It will be built of brick, With stone dressings, etc., and a bold cantilever cornice. Mr James Greenhaulgh, of this town, is the architect, and will have the general superintendence of the erection.
