Almost Walter's only London work were the offices of the Morning Star, in Dorset Street, Fleet-street, erected about 1854, the date of the establishment of that newspaper. In 1854 Cobden and Bright had persuaded Joseph Whitworth and Edward Walters to invest in their newspaper, the Morning Star to give the Manchester School theorists a daily voice. The newspaper folded in late 1856. Of the investors Walters in particular was least able to afford the sums that had been lost.
