Ornamental Grounds, Lord Street, Southport

SOUTHPORT - At a meeting of the Southport Town Council, held last week, it was decided that the design, submitted by Messrs. Maxwell and Tuke, of Bury, for laying-out the ground in front of the Town-hall and Cambridge Hall, and erecting new fountain and other embellishments, at an estimated cost of £1,800, should be adopted. These ornamental grounds will extend from Trinity Churchyard to East Bank Street, and will be a great addition to the beauty of the centre of the town.  [Building News 30 January 1874 page 133]
