The Princess Picture Theatre orifinally opened in October 1922. Initially, seating was on one floor but in 1932, a balcony was added, increasing the seating capacity to 800. The cinema was also given a new façade in a Neo-Egyptian style while the interior was decorated in Art deco style. The proscenium opening was 32 feet wide, and the stage was 30 feet deep.

The Princess Cinema closed in 1981 and was converted into a bingo hall. now a JD Wetherspoon pub,
