NEW SCHOOLS IN LOWER BROUGHTON – On Saturday afternoon the corner-stone was laid by T Barlow Esq, Mayor of Salford of a new school in connection with the Church of the Ascension. The site is bounded by Alfred Street, Lowcock Street, School Street and Cambridge Street. The building will be erected from designs supplied by the Education Department which … - illegible -…. Tully, architect, John Dalton Street. Mr Brown, of Salford, is the contractor. The building will be one storey, divided into three rooms, and will accommodate 300 children. It would be erected chiefly through the liberality of Mr Clowes, the lord of the manor. During the proceedings it was noted that the foundation stone of another school in the district had been laid a few weeks earlier.
